People Party Facilitator Training

When a room shares a goal, everything changes.

Learn one facilitation method and every room you lead changes. Each person takes part at their own level, and the room commits to the goal and follows through after it ends. Use it in any meeting or event, with your team, your clients or your community.

What we discovered

Everything starts with a shared goal.

After hundreds of interviews and thousands of conversations, six patterns stood out in people who reach their goals. When Stacey tested them, one turned out to be the missing piece nobody talks about: My People, a group of people chasing the same goal as you (not your friends or family). Stacey took that idea to the TEDx stage, and nearly two million people have watched it. The other half of the missing piece is the environment: a room built so every person can participate and engage. That’s what the People Party Method creates.

How most rooms are built

Built for people, around a role or an agenda

A team shares an org chart. A conference shares a venue. A meeting shares an agenda. Someone plans the room and hands it to the people in it. They watch, nod and go back to their desks.

How the People Party Method builds a room

Built with the people inside it, around a shared goal

Apply the People Party Method, and the room gets created with the people in it. The room shares one goal, and each person has their own goal inside it. Now people have a reason to take part, help each other and follow through, in whatever way fits the size of the room and their own comfort level.

Different people, same goal

When a room is bonded by the same goal, people who would never normally talk to each other open up: different departments, roles, backgrounds and beliefs. The goal makes it safe, because everyone is on the same journey.

Small room or a movement

It can start with two people and a shared goal. It also spreads: when we trained 100 people in the method, they used it to run 36 gatherings of their own within two weeks. Every room built this way creates people who can build the next one.

Why this matters in your work

Most rooms give people information. Very few give them something to do.

  1. You have a new goal and you’re excited about it. You call the meeting and explain why it matters. You get quiet nods and a question about logistics. By Wednesday it’s business as usual, like the meeting never happened.

  2. Or you want more clients. So you post more, write more content, run more ads, host another webinar and present to a room of muted squares. People listen, say “great session” and leave. And the new clients still aren’t coming.

People don’t build commitment by listening.

They build it by taking part. That goes for your team and for your clients. Every meeting, offsite, client event and breakout session is either a room where people watch or a room where people act.

Google found the same thing

Google’s two-year Project Aristotle study of its own teams found the biggest difference between high and low performers was whether people felt safe enough to speak up. Talent and resources mattered less.

The quiet room costs you your best people

Your most capable people notice first, and they have the most options. Gallup estimates replacing an employee costs one-half to two times their annual salary.

Clients who only listen, leave

A client who sat through your presentation knows what you do. A client who spoke up, met other clients and helped shape what happens next is invested. They stay longer, refer more and tell you what they’ll buy next.

Knowing isn’t the same as knowing how

Most leadership training teaches the words: trust, courage, psychological safety. Almost none teaches a repeatable way to produce them in a specific room, on a specific day.

What the People Party Method is

The People Party Method is a facilitation method for bringing any group together around a shared goal. It goes inside the meetings, conferences, hot seats, Q&A sessions, town halls, book clubs and meetups you already hold, or you use it to create a new one. The room moves toward the shared goal, and each person moves toward their own goal inside it, with the people around them as support. Attendees become contributors, strangers become connections, and the relationships and momentum keep going after the room ends. It works with two people or a thousand.

Two ways in · One method

Gathering people is too important to outsource. It’s a leadership skill.

Every leader asks people to rally around a vision, embrace change, trust each other and move toward a goal. Almost nobody is taught how to gather people, make it safe to speak, and guide a room so every voice counts. So you learn it yourself first, then use it with everyone you lead.

For yourself

A skill that goes with you

  • For managers, team leads, founders, coaches, consultants and anyone who wants people to follow them into a goal.
  • Use it with your team, your clients, your board, your community or your cause.
  • It’s yours for life and goes with you to every role after this one. The person who knows how to bring people together is the one who gets noticed, trusted and promoted.

For your organization

One way to lead a room, across every team

  • Enroll your managers as a group, virtually, at an intensive or on-site.
  • Each one takes it straight back to their own team and runs a real room between levels.
  • Everyone ends up using the same method and the same language, and you build facilitators inside the company instead of hiring them in for every offsite.

How it works · The People Party Method

One method, three parts.

Part 1 · The Do The Thing Formula (I’M GAME)

Six patterns from hundreds of interviews, run in order in any room.

Stacey interviewed people who had mastered doing the thing, then codified what they had in common. Each letter is one of those patterns. The formula is the heart of the People Party Method: the facilitator builds the structure, and the people create the experience.

  1. Identify the Why

The host goes first and shares something real, a reason that costs something to say out loud. That gives everyone else permission.

  2. Mindset

The room names its real struggles before it gets to goals. People find out they aren’t the only one who feels stuck, and safety gets built.

  3. Goal

One shared goal for the room. Inside it, each person has their own micro goal, the specific thing they want from being here. In a small room they say it out loud. In a big one they might share it with a partner, a small group or the chat.

  4. Accountability

Nobody has to enforce it. Naming your goal in front of others, whether that’s the whole room, a small group or one partner, does the work a follow-up email never will.

  5. My People

The missing piece. People chasing the same goal become each other’s support, across departments, roles and backgrounds that would never normally mix.

  6. Educate by contribution

Contribution comes from the room, not just the front. People stop learning only from the leader and start learning from each other, and that’s what keeps the momentum going.

HORSEFIND YOUR VOICESHARE YOUR VOICECREATE OPPORTUNITYCREATE A MOVEMENTGLOBAL REACH

Part 2 · Comfort Circles

Everyone moves together because everyone acts at their own level.

Every step toward the goal has a version for each circle, so the introvert and the extrovert, the new hire and the VP all take part. Facilitators stop asking “why won’t this person participate?” and start asking “which circle are they in?”

  • Horse. Present but not ready to be seen yet. That isn’t disengagement. You leave the door open and never drag anyone through it.

  • Find Your Voice. The first question or the first admission. It looks small, but it’s the turning point.

  • Share Your Voice. They contribute without being prompted.

  • Create Opportunity, Create a Movement, Global Reach. They turn their voice into opportunity, bring others with them and start hosting rooms of their own. At work, this is the person who gets promoted because people follow them.

Part 3 · The P.A.R.T.Y. System

Fill the room, then keep it moving after everyone leaves.

The formula runs the room. P.A.R.T.Y. brings people into it and makes sure the momentum doesn’t stop when the room ends.

  1. Promote

Tell people about it where they already are, in a way that makes them want to be there.

  2. Ask

Ask people what they want from it before you build it, so they arrive already invested.

  3. Reach out

Invite people personally, and bring in co-hosts and experts who bring their own people.

  4. Tell them what to do next

Every room ends with one clear next step, whether that’s a commitment, a meeting or an offer.

  5. Yay, celebrate

Celebrate what people did. It’s how they see what they were part of, and why they come back.

Everything you can do with it

Any goal. Any room. The same structure.

Bring the method into something you already run, or use it to create something new. The goal is what you bring. The facilitation process stays the same whether it’s two people or a thousand.

Team meetings that move

People leave with a goal they named, so the plan outlasts the meeting.

Breakout and conference sessions

Turn a session people sit through into one they take part in, and remember afterwards.

Marketing and new clients

Host a meetup or Q&A session around a topic your ideal client cares about. A room run this way isn’t just where you make the offer. It’s where you discover what people want from you.

Offsites and change

People who helped build the change don’t resist it. Give them a room to build it in.

Client retention

Clients meet you and each other. Clients who feel connected don’t shop around.

Causes and CSR

Rally employees, leaders and clients around a cause and raise money together. Fundraising is one goal among many.

What happens when people run it

A movement built on shared goals.

On the spot

The room told us what to launch

At a session about growing an audience, run with the People Party Method, nobody pitched anything. People shared what they were stuck on and helped each other brainstorm. By the end it was obvious what people wanted, so the hosts launched a new membership right there, and people joined immediately. A room run this way isn’t just where you make the offer. It’s where you discover it.

36 rooms

In two weeks, from 100 trained people

We trained 100 people during People Party Palooza. Two weeks later they had used it to run 36 gatherings of their own, each around their own goal. There was no marketing push. They had a repeatable system and they used it.

One invite

Instead of an info session

A TEDx curator wanted more people to apply to speak. Instead of an info session, we used the People Party Method to run a session called “What Is Your Idea That Can Change the World?” People said their ideas out loud, the room encouraged them, and the only pitch was an invitation to apply.

In their words

What people say about the People Party Method.

  • “I hosted a My People Party with 26 attendees using just an AddEvent link, no funnel, no complex setup. Multiple people asked how they could work with me. I simply dropped a Calendly link and gained five new clients from one event.”

    Dr. TubyBusiness Growth Strategist
  • “I don’t know what you did here, but it feels magical… something big is happening. I want to replicate it with as many people as I can because of the results achieved in a short time, when it didn’t feel hard, it felt really fun.”

    Karen TaylorCommunity Leader
  • “I had close to 15 people go through it in my community. Everyone was really engaged and it was awesome. I think I had eight people convert into paid membership, which is great, more people than I was expecting.”

Why this training pays off

We built this offer around the four things that decide whether training is worth it.

Training is worth what it delivers, multiplied by how likely it is to work, and divided by how long it takes and how hard it is. So we pushed the top two up as far as they go and the bottom two down to almost nothing.

▲ Pushed up · The result

Rooms where people act, not just attend

Quiet people find their way in. Goals people name get kept. Teams, clients and communities that keep moving after the room ends.

▲ Pushed up · The likelihood

Five years of live testing

Hundreds of interviews, thousands of conversations, and the Do The Thing Formula used in 30+ communities. It depends on structure, so it doesn’t need a natural performer at the front.

▼ Pushed down · The time

Your next meeting

Every level ends with a real room you run. Most people run their first within weeks, many the following week.

▼ Pushed down · The effort

Nothing to invent

Ready-made formats, prompts and templates that plug into the meetings and events you already hold. No stage and no production budget.

Every reason it might not work, handled

We listed what stops training from sticking and built a fix for each one.

“I’m not a natural facilitator.”
Neither was Stacey. She once spent $25K producing a polished event while avoiding her own team meetings. The structure does the work. Your job is to go first and hold the order.
“We don’t have time for another program.”
It runs inside meetings you already hold. Nothing new goes on the calendar.
“We’ll forget it by Monday.”
Every level ends with a real room you run, and you bring back what happened. After the intensive there’s a First-Room Debrief with us.
“People will find it awkward.”
The Comfort Circle gives everyone a version of the action at their own level. Nobody is pushed into sharing.
“I don’t know what kind of room to run.”
The Format Library gives you ready-to-run formats for team meetings, breakouts, marketing events, client nights and more.
“Half our team is remote.”
The method was built and proven online, and it works in person too.

The path · Three levels

Every level ends with a real room you run.

You don’t finish a level by watching videos. You finish it by running the method with real people. A real goal, real people and a real result. That is the method.

Each level gives a person a clear role. When an organization trains people at every level, everyone has a part in how the company’s rooms run. Hosts run rooms with their own teams, and facilitators lead rooms across the company and coach the hosts. Everyone shares the same method and the same language.

  1. 1Learn

Best for: anyone new to the method, and whole teams who’ll be taking part in rooms run with it.

Understand how the People Party Method works and where it fits in your work

The three parts of the method (the Do The Thing Formula, Comfort Circles and the P.A.R.T.Y. System) and why a shared goal builds trust faster than good intentions.

Your real room:join a live session run with the method as a guest, and name your own goal. Feel it from the inside first.

After this you can see what your meetings are missing and explain the method to your team.

  2. 2Host

Best for: managers, team leads, founders, salespeople, coaches, anyone who leads a group of their own.

Use the method in the meetings and events you lead

Choose a goal and a format, fill the room, run the six moves and give people a clear next step. The full virtual program, self-paced.

Your real room:run your next team meeting, town hall or client meetup with the method, then fill in the Reflection Sheet.

After this you can run rooms for the people you lead, again and again.

  3. 3Facilitate

Best for: senior leaders, HR, People Ops and L&D, executive coaches, and whoever will lead the method across a company.

Facilitate for other groups and lead the method across a team

Two days in person with Stacey. Practice every move live, read any room with the Comfort Circle, and design rooms for groups you don’t lead yourself.

Your real room:facilitate a meeting, session or event for another team, department, client or community group, then debrief it with us.

After this you can run rooms for anyone and teach your managers to host their own.

Each level builds on the one before. Level 3 includes Levels 1 and 2.

Why people choose it

The top reasons people learn the People Party Method

Career advancement

The person who can bring people together, get them talking and get them moving is the person who gets noticed, trusted and promoted. It’s a skill that makes you stand out in any role.

Leadership opportunities

You’ll be the one asked to run the offsite, the kickoff or the client event, because people know your rooms work.

A skill AI can’t do for you

AI can write the agenda. It can’t get a room of people to trust each other and commit to a goal. That human skill is becoming more valuable every year.

Help your organization

Stronger retention, faster buy-in on change, better client relationships and meetings that actually move the work forward.

Works in any industry and any role

Every organization has meetings, clients and goals. The structure is the same in a hospital, a law firm, a startup, a nonprofit or a sales team.

It never expires

There’s nothing to renew. Once you know how to engage a room, you use it for the rest of your career, in every job you hold.

Where this comes from

Twenty years showed me where people get stuck.

For twenty years I co-owned a staffing company that grew to $35 million a year in revenue, with sixty people on our own team and six hundred more in the field, plus the executives we hired for. That gave me a view most leaders never get. Employees, clients and executives were all stuck in the same way, in different rooms, for different reasons.

I was stuck too. I’d spend $25,000 producing a polished event, then avoid calling my own management team into a room because I was scared I wasn’t polished enough to lead it.

Stuckness doesn’t break with more information or more polish. It breaks when people take action together.

After I sold my stake, I set out to find out why some people move and others freeze. That became the five-year Do The Thing experiment: a podcast about people who had mastered doing the thing, hundreds of interviews, thousands of conversations, and the formula tested in real communities until the pattern held. It became my TEDx talk, then my work at the United Nations, and now this training.

Questions people ask

Before you enroll

Where can I use it?

Anywhere people come together. The People Party Method is a facilitation method, so it goes into any meeting, conference, hot seat, Q&A session, town hall, book club or meetup, or you use it to create a new one. Fundraising is one goal. The same structure works for a team meeting, a breakout session, a marketing event, a client night, an onboarding day or a launch. You bring the goal.

Can I enroll on my own, without my company?

Yes. The skill is yours whoever pays for it, and you can use it with your team, clients or community straight away.

We already do team-building. How is this different?

Team-building is usually a one-off activity run by someone else. This is a method your own people learn and then use in your normal meetings, built around a real shared goal, so the trust it creates is attached to the work.

Do I need to be a confident speaker?

No. The Comfort Circle starts everyone, facilitators included, at Horse. The structure carries the room, and confidence comes from running it.

Does it work virtually?

Yes. It was built and proven online, and the same moves work in a conference room, a town hall or a client meetup.

Does it work in my industry?

Yes. The method isn’t tied to any industry. Anywhere people meet around a goal, whether a team, a client base, a board or a community, the same six moves apply.

Can I go at my own pace?

Yes. Levels 1 and 2 are self-paced online, so they fit around your schedule. Level 3 is two scheduled days in person.

When are the dates?

We’ll announce the two days in Coronado, California by the end of November. Levels 1 and 2 are online, so you can start before then.

What if I can’t make the dates?

You get a full refund or a seat in the next cohort. Your choice. We run the intensive every quarter.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If the dates we announce don’t work for you, you can have a full refund or move to the next cohort.

Do Playground members get a special rate?

Yes. Members pay $3,000 for Facilitate and $600 for Host, for two seats. Your member code is in the Playground. Enter it at checkout.

Is this a certification?

No. This training teaches you to facilitate with the People Party Method. We don’t offer certification today.

Can you train our whole leadership team?

Yes. Choose In-House and we’ll scope it around your team’s size, goals and the meetings you already run.
